Also, on this day in 1885 George Richard Minot was born. An American physician, he was one of the developers of a raw-liver diet used to treat pernicious anemia.

In 1973 Keith Moon of the rock group The Who smashed a bottle of ketchup against the wall of their hotel room, beginning $6,000 worth of damage to the hotel room and the groups overnight arrest in Montreal, Canada.
