Also, on this day in 1956 ‘Knott’s Berry Farm’ trademark was registered (syrups; jellies; jams; fruit preserves; etc.). The name was actually first used in 1928.

In 2006 Chicago’s oldest restaurant, the 107 year old Berghoff Restaurant closed today. (The Berghoff reorganized and reopened again in 2007).

In 2010 Rose Gray died (born Jan 28, 1939).  One of the most influential British chefs and restaurateurs of the 20th century. Co-founder and chef of River Cafe in London, “a little piece of Italy on the Thames.”
