Also, on this day in 1884 John Mayenberg, of St. Louis, Missouri received the first U.S. patent for a process to produce evaporated milk (patent # 308,422).

In 1884 Nestle registered “Nestle” trademark (condensed milk).

In 1915 Edwin Traisman was born in Chicago, Illinois (died June 5, 2007). Food scientist who developed the process for freezing McDonald’s french fries and helped develop Cheez Whiz.
